Our Projects
Read and Write with Ease
The objective is to develop Grade 1 teachers’ knowledge and understanding of teaching Thai language using the 4-step skill ladder approach, which is as follows:
- Step 1: "Give students a connection to memory."
- Step 2: "Read words and reinforce the method."
- Step 3: "Practice handwriting repeatedly."
- Step 4: "Write as instructed every hour."
The goal is to enhance the teaching process and build the confidence of Grade 1 teachers so that they can ensure their students can read and write effectively. The Bai Mai Pun Suk Foundation, in collaboration with Tungsak Asom led by Assoc. Prof. Siwagarn Patummasoot and Teacher Naiduangta Patummasoot , has been working on promoting reading and writing in schools across the country for over 280 schools. However, there are still challenges with literacy as an obstacle to unlocking the potential of Thai children. According to national assessment results such as the READING TEST (RT) or reading ability assessment for Grade 1 students, some educational districts still report low scores.
Therefore, the Bai Mai Pun Suk Foundation recruits schools to join the "Read and Write with Ease" project annually, with 50-70 schools participating. The foundation offers training, knowledge-sharing sessions for teachers, provides teaching materials, and conducts follow-up consultations for teachers and school administrators twice a year. Additionally, an assessment is conducted at the end of the academic year with the foundation's writing test, provided at no charge.
